
Thomas Jeffrey Hanks, born July 9, 1956 is an American actor. He is well-known for his comedic and dramatic roles. He is an American cultural icon. Thomas Jeffrey Hanks was the father of Janet Marylyn, a hospital employee, as well as Amos Mefford Hanks (an itinerant chef). The family of his mother, initially called "Fraga" was completely Portuguese, while his father had English heritage. Tom was born into a family he calls "fractured". He did not have any acting experience in college. This was what helped him start his career. He auditioned in the city for a production in the community theater. The director offered him a trip to Cleveland and that's where his acting career began.
