Despacito is a hit song from Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi along with Daddy Yankee was released in the year 2017. It was the top streaming music of that period within the space of six months. This mix of reggaeton and pop music not only brought interest back to this genre but as well to Latin music in general. The Billboard Top 100 in 2015 had two tracks that were mostly in the Spanish languages, while the year 2016 saw four. The Despacito album reached its peak popularity in 2017 19 songs mostly in Spanish made it to into the Top 100. It climbed to 41 in 2020. Following the time that Justin Bieber released his bilingual remix of Despacito in 2017, famous artists started to work with reggaeton artists. Drake and Bad Bunny were part of a team for the track MIA MIA (2018), while Madonna collaborated with Maluma on Medellin 2019, which was released in 2019. In 2020, a few Reggaeton performers were expressing displeasure about the direction of the genre toward the mainstream. Yet, a young generation such as Rauw Alejandro was determined to maintain the development. He incorporated electronic dance styles and others into his music.
